About Rick Gardiner
I have worked in the print industry for 30 years. In that time I have witnessed the print industry evolve from the art of setting hand type and die blocks for letterpress printing to the digital full colour, wide format, push a button, high speed era that exists today. I hold very true to my beginnings and have coalesced the quality, patience and craftsmanship that I was taught early in my career with the new technological growth of present day. Mr. Gene Perry taught me to work hard, be fair, be honest and that pleasure in your job puts perfection in the work.
Planet Print are Eco friendly!
- At Planet Print we use Soya or vegetable based inks in our offset print production environment.
- We also encourage our customers to use recycled and environmentally friendly paper and we support the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization that promotes the responsible management of the world’s forests. FSC not only ensures consumable materials are taken from responsible sources; but it also ensures that claims regarding the recycled content of products are verifiable. FSC is one of the most valuable tools available for improving forest practices and protecting Canada’s natural forests.
- We use chemical free computer-to-plate technology in all our press projects, which eliminates the need for film and hazardous and toxic chemicals.
- We collect and recycle everything from waste paper generated from pre-production trimmings, print production and binding operations. We donate off cuts to schools and churches to be used for arts and craft projects. Our set up sheets, error runs and usable off-cuts are sent to schools in third world countries.
- We recycle all digital toner and drum cartridges.
- We recognize that to achieve our long-term environmental goals requires team commitment, ongoing cooperation with our employees, suppliers, clients and the promotion of environmental awareness.
